Fondato nel 1925, il museo si è evoluto da galleria locale a istituzione culturale che preserva il patrimonio della regione di Fife.
La mostra Moments in Time al piano terra presenta 24 eventi significativi della storia di Kirkcaldy attraverso manufatti, fotografie e registrazioni.
Il museo è aperto dal lunedì al venerdì dalle 10:00 alle 17:00, il giovedì fino alle 19:00, con orari specifici nel fine settimana.
Quattro dipinti significativi degli artisti scozzesi contemporanei John Bellany, Ken Currie, Callum Innes e Alison Watt formano parte della collezione permanente.
