La riserva di 54.6 ettari presenta praterie calcaree, boschi e stagni formati da ex cave, creando habitat diversificati per specie selvatiche.
L'area apparteneva ai territori di caccia reali della Foresta di Rockingham e successivamente ospitò attività estrattive di minerale di ferro fino al 1974.
La riserva funge da sito educativo dove i visitatori possono osservare 32 diverse specie di farfalle e studiare le interazioni tra piante e insetti.
Il sito offre parcheggio gratuito e rimane accessibile 24 ore su 24, con sentieri segnalati attraverso le diverse sezioni del terreno.
Twywell Gullet ospita habitat specializzati per api e vespe che nidificano nel terreno, guadagnandosi lo status di Sito di Interesse Scientifico Speciale.
